Piano, Guitar and Violin Lessons 2020/21

Registration is open for piano, guitar and violin lessons

There are a few lesson spots available for piano, guitar and violin lessons, traditional or Suzuki methods, for the 2020/21 school year.  We are very appreciative of the work our instructors have done to continue to offer instrumental lessons through various online resources in response to the Covid restrictions.  We are preparing and scheduling for in-person lessons to resume in September at our St John’s studios, with online options  available if restrictions change at any time thoughout the year.  Many of our instructor schedules are almost full.  Please register soon so we can find a spot that will work for you, or contact us at [email protected] with any questions.

Early Childhood Music classes 2020/21

Registration is Now Open for all 2020/21 Early Childhood Music Classes

Due to our reduced early childhood class sizes, please consider registering early to avoid disappointment.  Details of our safety measures are outlined below.

Although the past school year came to an early end due to covid, we are looking forward to a great start in September and are working hard to prepare for all circumstances in order to ensure the safety of our student families and instructors by implementing the following measures:

  • Modifications to our curriculum to reduce personal interactions and use of shared objects
  • Smaller class sizes – limit of 8 students per class
  • Individual instrument kits for each child to exclusively use for the duration of the school year, contained in a bag labelled with their name and kept in separate class boxes on site between classes.
  • More time between classes for student changeovers.
  • Strict protocols requiring non-attendance if there are symptoms of illness in the student household
  • Strict hand sanitizing protocols on arrival and departure from class
  • Changes to our cancellation policy in the event that classes are permanently suspended for the year.
  • The instrument kits mentioned above will be provided for use for the year at no extra cost to our students.

In addition, to all who were enrolled in spring classes as of March, 2020, we are offering a $40 discount off your fall class registration to help compensate for missed classes this spring due to the Covid restrictions.

As a small private business, your continued support is essential to our future. Our music programs have a 36 year history in Saskatoon. Many of our current parents were once children in these very same programs and we are so grateful for that loyalty and history with you. We look forward to many more bright years of music education with your children (and perhaps their children)!

Saturday PWM and MEC classes begin this week (Sep 7th).  Weekday PWM and MEC classes begin the week of Sep 17th.  We still have some spots available in our early childhood music classes as well as lesson spots for piano, guitar and violin in either suzuki or traditional method.  Late registrations are welcome – tuition costs will be prorated based on number of classes or lessons remaining for the year.

Parenting With Music classes (age 0 to 36 months) has availability on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday morning.

Music in Early Childhood (age 3, 4, 5 or 6 years) has availability on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Wilton Academy is proud to introduce our new guitar instructor, Stephanie Unverricht, who is offering private lessons in Suzuki or Traditional method for ages 4 and up.  Please see her full bio on our Instructors page.  Stephanie will also be offering group guitar classes.  For ages 4 to 6, an introductory class will teach children (along with their parents) the fundamentals to help prepare them for future individual guitar lessons.  For ages 7 and up, an emsemble class will be offered for existing guitar students already enrolled in private lessons.  Stay tuned for more information regarding future dates and times of these classes.

We have a few spots remaining for one-on-one lessons in piano, guitar and violin.  We offer both Suzuki and Traditional instruction methods.

We are offering more options for all baby music classes, aka Parenting With Music (for ages 0 to 36 months), as well as our Music in Early Childhood classes for age 3, 4, 5 and 6 years.

All weekday classes will be held at our St John’s location (816 Spadina Cres).

For Saturday classes, we now have 2 locations to create more options:

Parenting With Music (0-36 months) and all 3 year old classes (MEC3) will be held at our Wildwood location (1502 Acadia Dr)

Music in Early Childhood classes for ages 4, 5 and 6 will be held at our St John’s location (816 Spadina Cres).

April 7th – Spring Concert & Recital

Two Separate Events:

2:00pm – Spring Concert for Early Childhood classes:  This concert includes all students from our Parenting With Music and Music in Early Childhood classes.  Please purchase tickets from your teacher in the next few weeks:  $5 for each adult attending; children are free (cash preferred).  Proceeds will go toward our Student Bursary Fund which provides music tuition subsidy for lower income families.

3:15-4:15pm + 4:30-5:30pm – Private Instrumental Recitals:  Due to our high number of instrumental students in piano, guitar and violin, there will be 2 recital times instead of one long one.  Check with your instructor as to which time you are scheduled, 3:15 or 4:30. Please purchase tickets from your teacher in the coming weeks:  $5 per adult attending (cash preferred); children are free.  Proceeds will go toward our Student Bursary Fund which provides music tuition subsidy for low income families.
